I can't emphasize enough how important it is to have a low gauge (thick) cable for jump starting cars. my car came with a cheap emergency kit with a 10 gauge, 10' long set of jumper cables and they were worthless. The two vehicles had to be nose-to-nose, and the battery on the running vehicle had to be on the same side of the vehicle that needed to be jump started in order for the cable to reach. If I was close enough to connect the batteries, when I tried cranking the car with the dead battery the cables heated up and started to smoke because there was too much current running through them to start the dead battery.I bought these 4 gauge, 20' cables for a few reasons. As mentioned above, they are thick enough to jump start a dead battery without heating up, and long enough where the vehicles can be side-by-side, or nose-to-nose with plenty of length to stretch across the engine compartments of both vehicles. But the big selling point for this particular set of jumper cables was the extra copper tip on the end of the clamps. Without that, it's very difficult to jump start batteries that are crammed into a tight compartment, like on motorcycles and lawn mowers. The tip at the end of the clamp allows me to connect to the terminals on batteries in tight enclosures without having to dislodge the battery out to attach clamps that are covered by thick insulated grips. The thick grips are there to protect against accidentally touching the + and - ends of the clamps, but if you know what you're doing and are careful, these allow you to jump start anything thing that needs a boost.Used it for the first time yesterday and worked perfectly. Cord length is perfect. Still had a lot of slack left.Haven't uesd yet. Great dealThe value is good, but there's some reasons for that. This is Copper Clad Aluminum, which is fine, but it does get hotter than pure copper, and is much more brittle, so don't expect to wind and unwind these jumpers frequently (they'll break if you do), especially in very cold environments. Using aluminum does make them lighter and much cheaper. The clamp is pretty good, as it looks like it's designed to clamp to a variety of heads with decent contact surface, though there's some variability across all 4 clamps, one being less aligned than others and rubs against an edge when closing. Everything looks terminated well. The black cable is just painted on, but it seems like it's reasonable quality, and should persist as long as the cable will. This is a good length and gage for residential use, at a good price. I couldn't measure precisely enough to be sure, but I believe the 4 gauge claim.Heavy gauge wires and well made clamps. The length is great for my wives' SUV. I measured the AMPS at the battery and then at the end of the cables and there was only a 5 AMP difference which is impressive for a 20' run. I also like the supplied storage bag and the added gloves are a nice touch too! These easily fit in the wheel well of our spare tire so they store out of the way and do not take up any space. One of those items you hope you'll never need, but it is a life saver if you ever do. Summer's coming soon and that's when a lot of older batteries have a tendency to fail without any notice.I am very happy with these and will buy a 2nd set for my car.Let me just list a few things:- 4 Gauge is about as heavy duty as it gets- If you ever melted a cheap set of jumper cables you know how good these will be- Sometimes you can only jump a car end to end on a highway, 20ft will allow this, others will not- Understand that these are copper clad aluminum cables which can withstand 600 Amps- If they were solid copper they would cost 10x as much and still not do a better job- Good storage bag with gloves is something you will grow to loveBottom Line: These on a scale of 1-10 (10 being at least 20 feet with solid copper) these are about a 8 and throw in the cost factor and they are an easy 5 Star rated item for me and they should take care of any jump you will ever run into with ease.when you need then you are happy you have them. these work great! recently needed to jump a friends car and they worked as expected. nice connection points and bonus it comes with a bag and gloves to keep things organized and your hands clean. I would recommend these cables.see pictures posted. This is a quality product and I give it a 5-star rating!I hope you found this review Helpful.I got these cables because I wanted an easy way to connect high powered electronics to batteries. These cables are big, thick, and have convenient clamps which serves my needs well.+ The clamps are designed to be compatible with a wide variety of terminals, I had no issue connecting them with different batteries and running high power through them- Included gloves are not rubber insulated – for grime protection onlyThe black cable is a painted red cable, which does not affect operation
